Are you looking for the best things to do in Duluth, MN with dogs?! There are so many great activities that are pet friendly.

I’ve taken my lab-husky mix, Bella, to Duluth and the North Shore many times, and we’ve been able to find some really fun things to do. I would say her favorite is to get a pup cup at Love Creamery. And mine is to embark on hikes with her.

Whatever you’re looking for, there are ways that you can enjoy your time in Duluth with your furry friend! Let’s get into it.

1. Bring Your Dog For a Hike

If you have an energetic dog, there are so many hikes around the North Shore and Duluth that are great for bringing your dog on.

These are perfect for getting out some energy and allowing them to experience all sorts of new smells.

I’ve brought my dog, Bella, on quite a few hikes, with Ely’s Peak (in Duluth) and High Falls (in Silver Bay) being our two favorites. The picture above is Bella and I at High Falls!

Most trails around the area are dog friendly, as long as your pet is on a leash and you make sure to clean up after them!

2. Stroll the Beach on Park Point

Park Point Beach is also dog friendly, so you can spend some time walking along Lake Superior and letting them walk through the water.

Your dog does need to stay on leash, but if you’re willing to let your feet get a little wet, you can get close to the lake and let them take a little swim right off shore.

I brought Bella here last summer and she loved watching the birds fly around.

Just remember to clean up after your pup and try your best to keep them away from other people who might be relaxing on the beach.

3. Get Them a Pup Cup at Love Creamery

Bella is a fantastic judge of Pup Cups, and Love Creamery has really great ones – she told me that she could’ve eaten at least 3 of them.

Plus you can get yourself an ice cream (they handcraft all of their flavors) while you’re there. My favorite was the Butterscotch Brownie last time I visited, but their flavors change regularly.

They also have a patio outside, so you can sit there and enjoy your ice cream with your dog.

4. Explore a Dog Park

Another great spot to bring your dog is to a dog park, which there are four of in Duluth – all of them are off leash.

Each of them has plenty of space for your dog to run, including enough room to chase a ball or stick.

Plus there’s water during the summer months, a seperate fenced area for smaller dogs, and benches for you to sit on.

5. Eat at a Restaurant With a Dog Friendly Patio

One of my favorite parts of Duluth is that there are so many dog friendly places to visit, including many of your favorite restaurants.

If a restaurant has an outdoor patio, chances are, it’s dog friendly and you can dine outdoors with your pet.

Of course, you’ll need to keep them leashed, but some places even have dog treats or pup cups on the menu. Which is extra special for your fur baby.

6. Bring Them Shopping at A Place for Fido

Have you ever let your dog pick out their own toy in a store? Honestly, it’s one of my favorite types of Instagram Reels to watch.

A Place for Fido is a really cute, locally owned store for dogs in Canal Park. They have toys, treats, outfits, and more.

And you can bring your leashed dog inside to pick out their own toy. Trust me, your dog will LOVE you for this one.

7. Walk the Lakewalk

The Lakewalk is a really nice, paved trail that runs along Lake Superior from Canal Park to Brighton Beach.

It’s a great place to bring your dog for a nice little walk along the water. It is pretty long though (8+ miles), so it’s best to plan a shorter section about it and then plan to take your dog on that section.

I’ve walked with Bella quite a bit on the Lakewalk in the section nearest to Canal Park.

8. Wander Through Canal Park

Even just a wander through Canal Park is a great way to spend some time with your dog.

There is a large grassy space to wander near the lake, there are small shops for dogs nearby, and many people nearby that would love to give your pup some love.

Plus there are plenty of sidewalk areas and the Lakewalk, just remember to keep your dog on leash.

9. Enjoy a Brewery or Restaurant Patio With Your Dog

One of my favorite parts about Canal Park is that many of the restaurants have outdoor patios that are dog-friendly.

Canal Park Brewing has a really nice patio with picnic tables and a firepit area just off of the shore of Lake Superior that I’ve seen many people relaxing with their dogs at.

And a few restaurants that have outdoor patios include Fitgers, Little Angie’s Cantina, Northern Waters Smokehaus, Love Creamery, and Va Bene.

Be sure to check with the restaurant before you go to ensure they are indeed still pet friendly, but these are a few that I’ve seen animals at or have personally brought Bella to.

Conclusion: Things to Do in Duluth, MN With Dogs

If you’re looking to bring your dog around Duluth and enjoy some time with them, there are plenty of places to bring them.

I’ve brought Bella to many places, from beaches to restaurants and cute little dog-themed stores, and I want you to be able to bring your dog to explore as well! Enjoy!
