The giant ferris wheel at the Minnesota State Fair, where you can try new foods.

Minnesota State Fair Announces 33 New Drool-Worthy Foods to Try in 2024

If you love the Minnesota State Fair as much as we do, then you too are probably waiting all summer long for them to make the accouncement of their new foods.

And it’s finally time, that the Minnesota State Fair’s new foods have been announced for 2024!

A whopping list of 33 foods that will have you drooling all the way to the fair entrance.

With foods like deep fried ranch dressing, ham and pickle roll-ups on a potato skin, and dill pickle tots, I think you’ll have reason enough to visit this year.

Let’s dive into a sneak peek of the new foods you have to try this year.

Must-Try NEW Foods at the Minnesota State Fair

Whether this is your first time or your 50th time visiting the MN State Fair, you probably know that the main appeal is the food.

And this year, there are 33 glorious new foods and drinks to try.

I’ve gone through the entire list a few times myself, and I’m ready to share my thoughts and what I know I’ll be adding to my must-try list this year.

1. Deep Fried Ranch Dressing

If you know anything about Tyler and I, then you’ll know that we thrive on ranch dressing. And I mean, THRIVE on it.

So when I saw this, my jaw dropped.

Rnach dressing and cream cheese coated in a crunchy, deep fried shell of panko breadcrumbs, served with hot honey sauce.

That’s all that there really is to be said. You know I’ll be first in line for this.

2. Dill Pickle Tots

I’m all about tator tots, especially if they’re on top of tator tot hotdish, but I’ll definitely be snagging up these dill pickle tots too!

Coated in a dill seasoning and deep fried, these tots from Tot Boss are just like the crunchy, delicious dill pickle chips that we all love.

3. Cookie Butter Crunch Mini Donuts

Okay, we all know that mini donuts are the reigning king of all foods at the state fair, so isn’t it automatically a winner if you add something as delicious as cookie butter on top?

These vanilla flavored mini donuts are topped with a decadent drizzle of Biscoff cookie butter and cookie crumbles.

You know those cookies you get while flying on Delta that everyone rightfully loves? Yeah.

4. Cotton Candy Iced Tea

We’re not just about the new foods at the fair, but also all about the brand new drinks. And this Cotton Candy Iced Tea at Loon Lake Iced Tea caught my eye.

You mean to tell me that delicious, sugary candy that we all ate as kids can now be a refreshing drink? Sign me up.

Plus it’s served with one of those rock candy sticks to swirl around, which makes it all the better.

5. Ham and Pickle Roll Up on a Potato Skin

I mean, what gets more Minnesotan than Midwestern Sushi on a potato skin?!

Chopped pickles, diced ham, and a mixture of sour cream and cream cheese loaded into a potato skin and topped with potato chip crumbles.

These might just be my favorite addition to the list.

6. Shroomy ‘Calimari’

This vegan option is one of the most delicious-looking bowls of ‘calimari’ that I’ve ever seen.

It consists of hand breaded oyster mushrooms deep fried and served with a side of chipotle sauce. Delicious.

7. Sweet Corn Cola Float

It wouldn’t be a visit to the Minnesota State Fair without grabbing a corn on the cob from the roasted corn stand.

So this Sweet Corn Cola Float from Blue Moon Dine-In Theater just screams “MN STATE FAIR.”

Sweet corn ice cream topped with sweet corn cola, made right here in Minnesota, and finished off with whipped cream and homemade caramel.

Truly, drool worthy.

8. Korean Corn Dogs

These unique twist on the classic fair corndog is enough to draw people in from all over the state.

Chan’s Eatery will have these unique corn dogs, which consist of a hot dog and mozzarella cheese deep fried with cinnamon and sugar.

Then you have the option to add a topping of fried potatoes or hot Cheetos. Yum is all I have to say.

9. Walking Shepard’s Pie

I love myself a good comfort food, and one of those comfort foods is a warm, tasty shepard’s pie.

This new food at O’Gara’s at the Fair is a handmade pastry stuffed full with braised ground beef, mashed potatoes, onions, carrots, peas, and all tossed in gravy.

Comfort on a stick, some may say.

10. Strawberries and Cream Waffle Stick

How could I create this list of new foods at the MN State Fair without mentioning at least one thing on a stick?

This waffle stick from Waffle Chix is topped with whipped cream and strawberry sauce, but that’s not the show stopper.

It’s the waffle stuffed with strawberry shortcake cookie dough. Yes, you read that right. Strawberry. Shortcake. Cookie. Dough.

11. Blazing Greek Bites

Over the years, Dino’s Gyros has had some amazing new foods, and this year is no different, with their Blazing Greek Bites.

These little bites are deep fried and stuffed with a blend of tomato, red pepper, scallions, chickpeas, and cayenne pepper. They’re served with hummus for the perfect mid-day fair snack.

Wrap-Up: MN State Fair New Foods

Aside from the top 11 foods that I listed, there are 22 more for you to check out during your time at the Great Minnesota Get Together.

Just know that the lines for these are going to get LONG, so the earlier the better. Not to mention the fact that I’ll probably be in line more than once for that deep fried ranch.
